Why Tenable Knives Supports the American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI)
From everyday carry (EDC) enthusiasts to outdoor users and professionals, millions of people rely on knives as practical tools every day. From opening packages and preparing materials to outdoor tasks and professional work, knives continue to serve practical purposes in everyday life.
As the knife community continues to grow, education, safe use, and a better understanding of knife laws have become increasingly important. Responsible knife ownership is not only about choosing the right tool, but also about understanding how to use and carry that tool properly.
At Tenable Knives, we were created with a simple goal: to provide reliable, well-designed EDC knives that are accessible to more users and enthusiasts. We believe that knives are more than just products — they are practical tools that become part of people’s everyday experiences.
That is why we are proud to support the American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI), an organization dedicated to promoting knife education, responsible ownership, and a better understanding of knife-related laws.
What Is AKTI?
The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) is a nonprofit organization that works to provide education and resources for knife users, manufacturers, retailers, and enthusiasts.
Through its efforts, AKTI helps promote safe knife use, improve public understanding of knives as everyday tools, and provide reliable information about knife laws and regulations.
For many knife owners, understanding local knife laws can be challenging due to differences between states and regions. Access to accurate information helps users make informed decisions and carry their knives responsibly.
Why Responsible Knife Ownership Matters
Knives have been trusted tools for generations. They help people complete everyday tasks, support outdoor activities, and serve important roles in many professions.
However, like any tool, a knife should be used with knowledge and responsibility. Proper handling, safe storage, and awareness of local regulations are essential parts of responsible ownership.
A stronger knife community begins with users having the right information — how to choose, carry, and use their knives responsibly. When more people understand how knives are designed, used, and carried responsibly, it benefits everyone — from longtime collectors to those purchasing their first EDC knife.
Tenable’s Commitment to the Knife Community
At Tenable Knives, we are committed to creating dependable EDC knives while supporting a knowledgeable and responsible knife community.
By joining AKTI, we are proud to support efforts that encourage knife education, safety awareness, and responsible ownership. We believe that a better understanding of knives helps preserve their role as practical tools in everyday life.
Whether you carry a knife for everyday tasks, outdoor exploration, or professional use, responsible ownership helps ensure that knives continue to be appreciated and respected for generations to come.
We look forward to being part of a growing community of knife users who value responsible ownership, thoughtful design, and the everyday usefulness of a well-made tool.
